i bought a manual to help me do the timing on my car when the cam flats are up does that mean straight up or up with the cut on the heads????


also when i'm done cams are 180 differece from front and back.... should the back ones(toward firewall) should be up and the front ones (at the radiator) be down???


currently cars makes noise at low rpm and doesn;t go over 4000rpm....

Flats up means the flats parallel to the deck surface. One bank should face up and one bank should face down when you're done. It doesn't matter which bank.
Did you use a tool to hold the flats in place? If you didn't, your cam timing is going to be very inacurrate.

oh i c thats where i messed up the book told me to make them straight up and said nothing about being parallel with the deck surface......... i just hope that in the minute the car ran i didn't mess anything up 2 bad.......

You need to use a hold down tool.
