Sounds like a clogged EGR is the cause. Take it off and clean it and the passage into the intake manifold. It usually clogs with carbon and then the computer detects there is no longer flow and sets the code. Use some brake cleaner or throttle body cleaner.sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

On a DOHC I couldn't tell you. But it will look like a 3 black tower shaped thing for that year.sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

I have the same code and I've cleaned it several times.
For me I might havbe to replace it or go the better route and get a chip to delete it.
Unless someone knows a better way???

I have actually taken mine off and disassembled it. It's easy to do. You can clean it up really nice if you do this. Just clean out the three holes and the pintels on springs. Be careful to put them back in the exact passages they come out of when reassembling.
If you do that along with cleaning the passage you should be ok unless it is some electronic malfunction in the EGR valve itself.
