Ok here it is.When I drive for a long time about an hour or longer and then sit in traffic the car just wants to die in less i floor it or two foot it. It seems like it only does it after running for a long time and stumbles on its face from idel to 2500 to 2800 rpms then it gains all the power back. i tought maybe it was my wires becasue it started doing this one morning on the way to work and it was wet outside, so I changed the wires and it seemed like it stoped doing it intill today I was at the Woodward Dream Crusie and it stalled like 5 or 6 times and was taking off like if I was running out of gas. It has only been doing this for about 2 weeks at the most now. I have all ready replaced all of the following in the last 3 months or so , TPS,new exhaust system(no cat),plugs,wires,upper and lower intake gaskets(fixed o-ring leak),fuel filter,run fuel treatment all the time(lucas). Also car doesnt really get that hot I put it on a scaner car never gets over 209 Degrees and that was it on a 90 degree hot summer day!The only thing i have not yet Is change the air filter, it is pretty damn dirty but I wouldnt think that it mess with the car like this.I also checked the fuel pressure at the rail it was around 40-45 PSI 40 at idel and any where from 40-45 when hitting the gas....... fuel pump is getting 13.6V Map was at 29.1 and the Fuel Trim would cyle from lean to to rich and back to lean after reving the engine and when sitting idel getting hott it goes lean??? does that sound right? I need this fixed ASAP NO SES light i will get a SES ever know and thena fter driving on the free way but its always a egr code and it only does it lf i acc to really high speeds 100++ and then slow down really fast.. NE IDEAS ANYBODY !!!!!!!

So does it die when you come to a stop? It could be a bad TCC solenoid. You could unplug it and see if that takes care of your problems. If so then you can leave it unplugged but the tranny will never lock up so mpg will be down until you replace it.sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

No i dont think it is that i know what that feels like i was working on a cavialer that had a bad tcc and thing would slam in gar and die.. Mine will be fine then if u idel for a long time take off and get to about 10 then slow back down it stumbles and idel goes up and down.. and when u take off it seems like its running out of gas no backfire through the tb no backfire out of exhasut just feels likes its running out of gas..1997 Chevrolet Camaro 30th Anniversary 5Speed.

anyone think I might have some bad coil packs or ing mod it only does this shit when it gets hott. also car has o degree retard and knock the timing is set dead on!1997 Chevrolet Camaro 30th Anniversary 5Speed.

My STE did that, but two different things caused it to stall at different times.
- One of the items was the CRANK SENSOR, on the auto tranny is HELL to replace!!! (which is common to fail in response time and yet NOT through the SES light, You would see the below average response time on a Snap On scan tool)
The Second is the injectors, which in the 93 and older ( OBD I ) a lot of originals caused problems. I have a complete GM recall book on the OBD I GM vehicles and it was listed as "Phantom Stalling".
And just so you know "IF" you decide you need new injectors, we have 100% Brand New Updated billet stainless steel ones DESIGNED FOR the 91-93 3.4 DOHC (cause of it being a common problem) for WAY LESS of a price you'd pay at GM or any parts store. I have them in my own STE and there amazing!!!

GOT IT
I figured it out. Two years ago when I installed my remote start I was messing around with the wires that go to the ICM becasue it wantes to RPM singal wire well I never used it becasue I hooked it up using the tachless mode, anyways when i striped the wire I taped it off and the the tape fell off and that wire was sooooooooooo bad it was green and was bare and when it was wet outside the fan would fling water right on it! I ran new wires to it and its fine now. i also went and got a new oil pressure sending unit switch which was a total waste becasue I think my oil pressure gauge is broken!i put the new sending unit on and it stilll says my oil pressure is reallllly Low and io know its not.. when i first got the car the gauge the gauge was as low as it is now but but for a while it used to to be half way and when u hit the gas it would peg now its just realllly low?????1997 Chevrolet Camaro 30th Anniversary 5Speed.
