Starting a new thread here, so i get the stuff in a more appropriate category.... quick rundown...Got the '96 monte for a song, , fixed cam timing, still wasn't running quite right. Borrowed a friend's scanner, popped a bunch of codes, so i cleared them, and presto! Like throwing a switch, it ran 100% better! Sweet! After a bit, however, 106 and 300 popped up. After doing a bit of looking around, it seems the MAF is probably the root cause...anyway, I saw while i was looking around that a guy cleaned his...but didn't say what he used to clean it. I see o'rielly's has CRC (brand name?) MAF cleaner...is this stuff okay, or is there something else i should be using instead? Or should i just not be so cheap and drop $110 on a new MAF?

Cleaning the MAF?

ok, thanks for the tip. Tried the CRC MAF cleaner, no change. So, in with the new MAF, cleared the codes, and....its better, but still not right. Same 106 code, but instead of "mass airflow voltage range performance problem" or something like that, it gives the same code, but says "manifold absolute pressure/barometric pressure voltage range performance problem" I'll admit my memory ain't the best....I'll try the new MAP tomorrow.....
