I'd look at the coils. I know when I had a coil go out on me, it would shutter at higher speeds and it OD, but when I shifted back into D, the shutter would go away. And that would also explain the miss you are hearing.

yup had that same feeling when two coils went on my old 3.1 Cav.

Read on FullthrottleV6 of the same problem and someone mentioned it is common and the problem is the Torque converter.

Thanks guys, in an all-day job I replaced all three coils and the ICM in one shot and that restored it to normal. I have no idea which of those four parts was actually at fault and I don't really care, as the whole thing was only $35 from a 2000 Lumina! Did you know that in addition to every GM V6 car imaginable, that same ignition coil assembly is also shared with the Honda Passport and the Isuzu Rodeo & Trooper?

I'll find out later if the shudders are gone, haven't had a chance to get it out on a highway to see yet.

I went to my shop tonight and hooked up the Snapon Scanner. There was even a listing for the 1-2 shift shudders under light throttle. lol and that was what it was called. But when I went to find out more about it the scanner said that I was missing that information.
