  • Doing some A:F Tuning. STFT/LTFT's

Well I know my car is running lean, hell i can hear it. And i finally broke down and bought an OBD2 scanner.

Got some readings and here's what i saw

    STFT - 3.13 (not bad)
LTFT - 16.41 (gettin up there)
    MAP - 70.00
    MAF - 27.00

I'm not sure if this should be in another section, like tuning, but i really don't have any "tuning" tools so to speak, but i'm just trying to figure out what's up.

Here are a couple other codes i have:
    P0171 (System lean, of course)
P0441 (Evap Emmission System Incorrect Purge Flow)
P1655 (Evap Purge Solenoid Control Circuit)

    Help is appreciated!

No resonator/muffs and that's really about it other than suspension work.

ok here my first set of questions:
-what year is the car? im assuming its a 96+ 3.4L other wise it wouldnt be in this section and an obd2 reader wouldnt work.
-what kinda reader did you buy? should really have spent some extra and got the dhp powertuner so you could modify the car when you saw the changes you needed to make.
-where are you located? if the car is a 96 my tuner might work for you. you could swing down here or we could meet somewhere and i can help tune your car.

if meeting up and buying a tuner isnt an option, then there arent too many options for dialing everything in but here goes my recomenddations....
        - the codes lead me to believe there is a vac leak in the EVAP system. check your IAC readings if they are at Zero at idle that is a good sign there is a vac leak somewhere. if you need the set of EVAP soloniodes let me know i have a pair that work that i removed off my Z.
-if the car is getting more air then that explaines the lean situation. once you find and fix the vac leak, scan again.

to fix the lean condition after the vac leak is solved:
-new fuel filter, clean the screen behind the fuel pressure regulator, and injector cleaner.
        -clean your MAF sensor
        -run progressively higher Octane gas
        -switch to colder spark plugs

for actual fuel tuning you can buy whats call a mini AFC. i think ZZP sells them still they let your recalibrate the maf so it lets you adjust the fueling of the car that way.

if you have more questions just hit me up on IM (digitallyphoenix)
