I ran my car out of gas the other day in my 1995 Grand Prix GTP, and it would not start. I put about 5 gallons in it, and when I went to turn the key it would start like normal and go up to about 2000 rpm like it usually does when you start the car but when it goes back down to idol, it keeps going down until it just dies. I tried to start it this morning and I didnt even get that, it just wouldn't start. Do you guys think I could have fried my fuel pump? If so, are they hard to replace in this car? I know that I will probably have to take the gas tank out, but how difficult would it be to do. I know it is very hard to do in our camaro because you have to take all kinds of suspension stuff off. Any help would be appreciated, I was not able to find another post on this subject.

ok, I will try that, but if that doesnt work is there any way to check the fuel pump? On our 94 camaro there is a thing on the engine called a schrader valve, you hook up a fuel pressure gague to that and it will tell you if you have any pressure in your lines. I was wondering if this engine had anything like that? Someone also brought up that it could be the Mass Air Flow Sensor, would that cause my problem?Last edited by 1995gtpGPdohc; 03-01-2007, 10:14 PM.

Of course the car has a schrader valve almost all engines do. It sounds like a fuel pump but you should be able to tell just by turning the key to the run position. If you hear the pump that's not the problem but if you can't it is. Also you might want to check the fuel pump relay too and all the fuses. If you have to replace the pump it's just dropping the tank and removing the snap rings that hold the pump in place and take it out. Don't forget to replace the fuel pump o-rings on the assembly that is a must.
