  • Just how important are idler pulley bolts?

i broke my timing belt this past monday, went to order all the parts. the idler pulley bolts (p/n:11514441) are discontinued now. some dealers still have them in back stock, but sooner then later there will not be any left.

so that said, can the old ones be reused without fear of failure?

Yes but you need to make sure you don't round out the torx head.

Update: I got in all the parts a few days ago, and it seems that while GM discontinued that bolt being sold separately. It is now included with the idler pulleys.

Done that! Some water pumps are held on by those lousy torx (mine included), replaced mine with bolts from a later model. Same with the idler pulleys, some have torx, some bolts. I'm glad to hear it worked out for you.
