    The AIR is used for warming up the catalytic converter faster, so it shouldn't have anything to do with your problems. By linear EGR, I meant yours has one coil on it, mine has 3.

      Change the plugs. It souds stupid but happend to me. Takes me 2 weeks and a lot of $$$ to find that what wrong where the pugs.

        Being a 96, shouldn't you have the linear EGR valve (looks like a cylinder)

        Most often a P1406 requires the EGR Valve replacement, as i believe that's a "Range/Performance" code..
