  • DOHC timing...... and i can post again

    after for some reason not being able to post for about 2 weeks... for some reason i can now... any way....... is there any way to do the alternat exhast timimg on the dohc without taking off the timing belt.... my belt has less than 15 thousand on it, and i want to do the alternat timing but dont really want to replace the belt yet... nor mess with taking it off if i dont have to

    on 94+ you can move the cams without removing the gears

      so how would i go about changing the timing without removing the cam geers and the belt

        Well you would only have to remove the cam sprocket covers, upper intake manifold and cam covers. Then find TDC and loosen the cam bolts, tap the sprokets witha soft blow hammer to loosen the brass taper bushing. Then you are good to time the bitch.

          ok that dosent sound bad at all......... now how do i set the timing... ..... im guessing the same way it says in the cam section mines all of the replacing the belt stuf... or is there an easer way to do it...... ive never set the timing on one of these moters befor and im kind of warry about it.... but it seem like something that i could concevibally do

            I'm not the person to ask about it because I've done the "stock" timing on my car a couple times, but never went beyond that. So I'm sure some one else can help.

                well lets here your way of doing it... and i had this idea last night about how to do mine....ok.... is it possibal to set the moter at TDC.... i haver two cam tools that can just hold one cam.... losen the cam geers that hold the exhast cams and back the moter up 13 degrees to set the exhast timing to 13 retarded.... and not even mess woth the intake timing... i hace a timing wheel
