  • Lifter Fuel Hose/Cam Carrier Pics

The fuel hose has to be put between the lifters against the "floor" of the cam carrier. The problem is the spark plug "tunnel" is in the way of pushing the hose straight in at a shallow angle, so you have to start the hose in on a steep angle, then turn in underneath the cams staying low between the lifters.
    See the attached pics.
    Hope this helps.

If you don't, when you remove the cam carriers, all the lifters drop out and go all over the place. Do a search, most guys stuff towels around the carriers to try and prevent that. If done properly, this way is easier.

You have to look in from the top of the carrier to see where the hose squeezes between the lifters and holds them in place.
I just got done cleaning all the carriers, heads and other parts. I looked at the lifters that did drop out. It turns out they dropped out because the cam lobe is down on 4 lifters on the rear carrier. This was because I did not have the cam at it's TDC and cam flats up. My fault.
