Only if its a 3.1 mated to the 4T60-E. They have extra sram needed for controlling the trans shift points.

Therefore it would have to come from a 93 3.1L

A bad ECM can be the cause of many symptoms, which makes it hard to say that IS the problem for anything other than no Check Engine codes working.

The ECM died in my '90 Celebrity Wagon (3.1 LH0) - the car just started randomly going into diagnostic mode - while I was driving!!! Then it would, as you said, stutter and die. I would be able to get it started again, but it would run like absolute garbage until it got itself out of diagnostic mode, then it completely returned to normal and the car would operate as if nothing was wrong. Once in a while my speedo would bounce all over the place too (electric speedo).

To fix it, I pulled the ECM box from my '87 Celebrity Wagon (2.8 LB6 I think), opened both ECMs up, and I took the chip out of the '90s ECM, put it in the '87s box, voila - I've been running it like that for the past 2 years. As long as the box you grab has the same number on it (there should be a white sticker on the side of the ECM box with a GM part number on it, make sure it matches your existing computer's number), just pull your chip and drop it into another computer. Then all your settings will be retained, but you may be able to clear up your ECM trouble - IF that's what you've got.

Just as a side note, recently I've put my '87 Celeb back into service, so I grabbed the ECM box from the '90 Cav 3.1/LH0 5-speed, which I purchased merely for the 5-speed setup, and put the '87s chip into that box, runs fine.
