Testing Electical circuts

I am not the best at electical testing. Usually I get confused on which setting for the AC dC Ohms and all the ranges for the tester.
I just got a new automatic tester at http://www.etoolcart.com/
It is awesome, it scans the frequency and is really easy to use.

I suspect that I have a problem with engine coolant sensor.
the sensor tested good at different temps. So I wonder about the ground...
I got a resistance of 4.2 K Ohms on the plug, does that sound right?

I wish I knew more about diagnosing electical, guess it just takes time to learn and read.
