  • Are the pistons in a 96 DOHC forged?

I am hearing conflicting stories on whether the pistons of a 96-7 DOHC are forged.. Some have said they are when I go ask about havin them made, others say they are not.. I am confused.. DO any of you all know what the case is about the DOHC's pistons?

All the pistons that came in the LQ1, from 91 to 97, were hypereutectic aluminum, not forged or cast.

If you can find Mahle, I would get that, they had better manufacturing process than others, so say my machine shop guru. Not available in forged btw.

Thanks guys.. My suspicions have been confirmed.. I have a source on Forged, FWIW.. I'll see what I can do, and if I can get a group buy of some sort, (maybe)

I still think Beck Racing can get Silvolite pistons for DOHC's, Forged would be custom and not sure on even if they can get forged ones. Hyper or t6 heat treated alloy pistons is usually the way to go with these engines.
