Is any X in the VIN designate an LQ1?

An 'X' in the 8th digit for all W-bodies 91 thru 95 designates the LQ-1.

            What about 1995+ cars? What letter would a 1996 GTP have? A 1997 Z34?

I would assume the same. The only reason I asked the question in the first place, was a guy had a 94 Monte, he said had a 3.1. The VIN had the infamous "X" in it. Car's gone, so mine is a mute point.
