alternator and A/C questions...

I was on this board a while ago, but I forgot my uid so I had to come up with a new one. Good to see the board is back up.

I have a '91 TDC engine from a Z34 that is missing the alternator and the A/C compressor. There's a local u-pull-it yard that has a bazillion early 90's 3.1s, 3100s, and the like so I can get cheap alts and comps all day long. Will the alternator and compressor from any other engine work? Thanks.

I think patgizz told me the 3.1 alt is the same, but the casing is bolted together at a different angle. If so, you could still probably just drop it in anyway. I would bet the AC is the same as well. Doing a search on gmpartsdirect.com says the AC stuff is identical for the 3.1 and the DOHC. It lists the alts as different but that could just be the casing changed. I would get a new alt though since its location isn't the greatest to be changing them one the engine is in. Not sure for a fiero but I can't imagine it being any easier.
