  • 94-95 Cam Sensor

What does it do? And how critical is the placement on the cam?

I believe it's a reference for the ICM on OBD 1.5 and up motors. It could be a reference for fuel, but the 24x sensor on the crank damper is for fuel as well, and I think it's the primary one.

Question: I have a 95 crate running on my 93 OBD 1 computer. Could I use a 91-93 valve cover? The front cam sensor is not being used, and the sensor plug is just sitting there unhooked, and I'm sick of getting questions on it.

You could, so long as the old cover completely covers that hole up. Though because that sensor is on a journal, there may e some high pressure oil blasting your cover. Can't say for sure, I've never tried it.

If it were me, I'd just leave the sensor in there. I ran my car all last year that way, this year I'll actually be using the sensor.

Mines been ran that way for over 25,000 miles. I just hate having it there mainly.

Are you using it on the OBD II swap?

Sensor is actually in between 2 journals. I pulled it and car ran and revved fine. Didn't drive it though.

I'll unplug it and drive it today.

Edited: 2/28/06 Drove it hard. No difference. SES light is on.. What does it do? Emisions? I want to do away with it, and use the earlier cam cover. It's all splash oil up in there. No pressure.
