  • Is the 3.4 dohc the same size as the pushrod '60 deg's???

From what I?ve heard all of GM?s pushrod 60 degree v6s share external dimensions and mounting points. Which is why it?s possible to swap out that the ancient carbureted 1984 2.8L for the SFI 3.4 from old v6 f-bodies, electronics & transmission not withstanding, it should bolt right up. My question is does this hold for the dohc v6s also? Does the LQ1 have the same mounting points as the other 3.4s? What about the 3.6L? I'd much rather go with the doch from a z34 than an old 160 hp f-body engine.

    That page has a few links of a 3.4DOHC vs a 2.8.

The DOHC is a FWD only engine so I believe the starter is on the opposite side (front or right side), the mounting bosses in the block should be similar or the same. The problem with fitting a DOHC in a RWD app is its width, those cam towers add quite a bit of bulk up there.

There is a guy that is/was doing the swap into a f-body, maybe someone else will remember more of that.

As far as swappint it into another FWD car, IE Beretta, Cavalier, Monte Carlo, the block itself is the exact same. Same bolt holes, same everything. It is actually prett weird. Just bored a little, and with a much better oil pump.

Wasn't it an 87. or 88 Camaro? I do remember him from GMF, but I forgot his screen name. Too bad he hasn't found his way here yet because I was wondering how things were going with it.
