i was wondering, how hard is it exactly to remove the passenger side airbag deployment module in my 94 gtp(without it going off)?

and that little panel or whatever covers it, does that come off with the airbag or will i be able to pu it back in?

You're talking about moving the airbag itself? Would strongly advise against that. Placement is critical in proper deployment. Whatever it is you're thinking of doing, I'd suggest you abandon the idea.

As far as I know, the cover on the dash is not part of the deployment modual. So, if you removed it, it would not make a difference. But I'm pretty sure that if you remove or disconnect the passenger airbag or the sensor under the seat, it will disengage all the airbags.

I don't know exactly how to disconnect/remove/replace any of the airbag systems. But, it does have all that info in my Chiltons repair manual. Maybe you would want to buy one of those, they are only about $15 and have pictures and everything.

Easy way to get rid of air bags. Bump....something,...hard!

Disabling is easy.

Drivers side. Lock steering wheel in straight ahead position. Remove the key! Remove the airbag fuse. AIRBG 1 or SIR. Unplug CPA plug at the base of the steering column.

Passenger side is the same procedure, except the CPA is under the glove box.

And yes, you can replace all the covers after removing the airbags. You wanting to sell them? Hot commodity! Most stolen item from vehicles.

Enable is just the opposite.

ok done deal. the cpa box is a little bigger than a pack of cigarettes correct?

it was wired in with the same harness as the airbag plug.

last thing then. how do i trick the car into thinking the pass airbag is there? right now i am getting an inflatable restraint light.

just remove the light, as long as you removed the airbag control module.

i stripped a 91 escort with bags, i pulled the bulb out first, then the bags, after i started the car an alarm just kept screaming at me. So i pulled out the airbag control module and taht was that.

if you just want a drivers bag and no passenger, the best thing to do would be to find a module from a car that had only drivers side srs, if it was available in that way.

Even with the fuse out, the airbags have a reserve capacitor that keeps them active for something like 4hours.

Airbags can be very evil. Might be in your best interests to have the dealer (*puke*) do it.

Then again, I have a healthy respect for high explosives, and although I still have 10 fingers, I want to keep them at least until I get arthritis.
