ugh, i fricken knew it was gonna get brought up but I didnt think it was gonna be you. Yes, sure, there are other 60v6s in the known universe but this site isn't about the gmc truck motor with massive torque:P
def not the best v6 for obvious reasons such as no aftermarket and the 3800/3.8L was rated the best v6 ever by several publications. the LQ1 is not advanced, imo, it was an answer to imports. the reason gm developed it was for that reason. gm experimented and found that they could transform an existing pushrod motor (the 3.8L SI and pre-SI) into an engine with similar power (being a little less n/a) and gas mileage (actually being a little more) to an OHC model. it was cheaper than developing a new motor at the time, but gm is seeing pressure to change to compete as their market share is ever-decreasing. looks like gm's future is awd subi's since gm traditional models or what they see as traditional or trying to be more popular styling/engineering and gm keeps buying more and more of fuji-heavy industries (aka subaru) and even the saab 9-2x (now totally a gm product) is a freakin subaru wrx (all-beit more appealing even though more expensive, imo as i almost leased one).
i vote a pain-in-the-ass but one i love for no logical reason
