28,000 with an oil leak? At 6 grand, I would be real nervous. Sumthin' is up. 10 year old car, driven less than 2800 miles a year? Not saying it isn't possible. I would do a Carfax. Just a heads up. No offence, but Granny cars are rare and she usually doesn't change rims.

Now, if all is legit, Blue Book here, (Ohio), is less than 4 grand. Even with the mileage. I'd pass on this Showcase. Give me the next one Bob!

The most I'd give for that car is $3K. I agree with doing a Carfax job on it also just to be sure.

And people wonder why we call them 'stealerships'.

I happen to live in Vegas and deal with the dealerships from time to time... but only when I don't mind paying out the wazoo.
It is, in fact, Bill Heard. I actually tried buying a different Lumina a few months ago, and the deal didn't go through because I had insufficient job history. I'm gonna see about that price, if they're gonna actually stick with it, because after the mechanic reported the leak, it was written off to wholesale, aka auction.

I'm off of work today, but I'm going there anyway to finish up the deal. And I'm gonna tell 'em, look, we only paid $1400 for this car, I know this for a fact, the trade appraisal was on the dash while it was in the bullpen, I don't see how you can really have that many different fees. You didn't do any reconditioning, you're not gonna fix that oil leak, doc/tax/etc. can't be more than $500, come on. If they wanna stick to that, then they'll just have to We Owe me the repair of the oil leak.

What really pissed me off about the other Lumina is three days after I gave it back, it got sold to a Mexican (sounds racist, but it was a Mexican) for cash. I was willing to go in on that car for two years of payments, they would've made way more than they did on the cash deal. But we'll see.

And yeah, I'll have them run a Carfax and let me see it.

That guy that told you 6000 is a tool. I hope he isn't the sales manager. I would have gone the the manager or the wholesaler on that one. Always have cash in that type of deal, you could have gotten that at maybe 1900 if that was a trade-in at one of the dealerships I work with.

btw if it was the manager, I would never do business with them, you are an employee protecting their investments, dumbasses. they let those go at cost many times, and if they send to the auction they may get less.

I can go to the auctions and I (we) have a wholesale and broker licences.

As a matter of fact, he is the Used Car Director. And I got the impression that he's firm about that price. I went to talk to him earlier and he said he's been getting turned down by all the banks, because I've got shitty credit or something (which I do), so this may not even happen. The car just might end up on the auction block sold to some schmuck who won't know what they've got and end up killing it through neglect.

I'm going in again tomorrow, so wait for an update.

Nah, a tool is useful. He is just stupid. Too much...sniff... I'll sell you Oldskools' GP for 6 grand. I'll sell you the R&BC for 6 grand and include Bens' hood.

Find someone who can get into the auction and you get the car for less than a grand. And maybe you should find a better place to work. Employers should not treat employees that way.

                Final update in this matter...

Despite the fact that I was very obviously showing interest in this car, the used car director saw fit to send it to fucking auction, so that's the end of that. I don't understand that... Only thing I can see in that is he didn't give a shit whether or not I wanted to buy the car, as long as it got sold. I'm sure the store could've got a little bit more out of me than by selling it to the auction, but whatever, what do I know about sales, I'm just a security guard.

So I'm gonna go after the other Lumina, the 2000 white one. It's got the 3100 though, so I guess that's it for this thread. Thank you and good night.
