      RPO = Regular Production Options.

      I call it the 3.4 DOHC, depending on year I might call it a 3.4 TDC. But If I am reffering to the engine in general to people that know what LQ1 means then and only then I call it the LQ1.

      Everyone and there mother knows what a LT1 or an LS1 or LS7 is.

      GM car's with special packages often referred to by the RPO code. For example: Z28, Z34, Z24, Z06, W41, WS6, W30, FE4, Y82 ... There is a huge list of these RPO's. Your RPO sheet is the recipe the factory used to equipt your car with all the right options, packages, and colors. Try decoding yours sometime, and you might learn something about what your car is equipt with.

        LQ1

        We should call it this, becuase seems like the manufactures like to make things for LS7, LT1, LS2...

        We needed a cool name like the old Olds Rocket V8 motors.

        How about the liquidator... that is what GM seems to be doing to the second best 6 cylinder engine they ever designed. (i have to give kuddos to the 3.8L, currently 3rd Gen FWD, and they made 3 gen of RWD). Although the current 2.8 DOHC and newer caddy motors may live on.

            I like Twn Dual Cam (TDC) because it's the only engine with that name. Honda has used DOHC for so long that, when you use that term, people get a little honda engine into their head and not the much torquier 3.4.
            By that I mean that people think that's how the engine performs. No torque and takes forever to get going. That's just not the case with the TDC, especially in a lighter Fiero. Twin Dual Cam...come on man, that just sounds badass!
            It's also kind of a cool name being that it's unique. There are tons of engines that have the DOHC design but nobody has used the Twin Dual Cam name on any of them other than the LQ1.
