  • 2006 G6 GTP

Well anyways at the dealership we got in a 06 G6 GTP with a 6 speed manual, it has a 3.9L vvt engine, its not to bad , i think that our 3.4l 5 speed cars are faster, well anyways the 3.9l is a 60* v6 maybe the trans would work on our cars. next time its in the shop ill put it up in the air and maybe i can measure the bellhousing to see if it will mate up or not.Just a thought.

IM surprised that you feel its slower than our cars. I mean, its got more power, better powerband, and a 6 speed. I dunno what the weight is on that car though but it would have to be about 3800 pounds to probably put it even close to even.

So, did they dump the Grand Prix's then? Since they are handing the GTP title to the G6.

Yes, it will all match up. And, its actually smaller than the 284... Closer to the 282 size.

yeah i dunno why it doesnt feel that fast, but when i get out of the G6 and into my GTP it feels faster,it burns the tires better and it gets to higher speeds faster. of course mine and my brothers GTP's are not stock so that might have some stuff to do with it.

You're kidding, I can't believe I missed this info! So does anyone know if this is a drop in replacement for our 284's? What about the CV axles, will the stock Z34 one fit? And the clutch, same as well? Man, forget this 284 shit if this 6 speed will drop in with little or no headaches!

well dont count on little or no headaches, i can see this being a big problem. thecv axles probably dont match up, and the proper ones for the tranny are probably to short for our cars. the shift linkage is not the same(close but not the same) and mounting it is probably going to be a problem,im not sure but i dont think that there is a mount where ours is, and plus all these parts are going to have to be purchased new. it all is possible, but it is going to be a big headache i believe.

Meh, that doesn't sound like a headache to me - it sounds like a challenge.

Anybody have the GM part number for the M2? I can't find it.

dont forget that you need a new flywheel for the different stlye clutch. and the flywheel might not bolt up to our cranks.

Yep, it will prolly need lot's of custom parts made to get it running, aqnd for one, I'm in.
