    4.2 / 5.0 Vortec .wmv

"The custom 6-into-1 header was a work of art. The official numbers I read on the engine were 600HP @7500, and 450 lb-ft @6000. I have always been a big fan of the sound of a nice straight six, but they had this thing wound so tight, it sounded almost like an F1 car winding up. I took some video of it blasting past on the first straight just after the start line, and the sound is almost magical." marty

Can you send a .wmv of that footage ?

A .wav file of the sound would be Ok too !

Big fan of that 4.2 - plan is to put one in

The footage is on a 8mm camcorder tape. I will have to dig it out and get it encoded. I will see what I can do.

Actually, your heads are my back-ups. I almost "whoopsed" these and got the set from you "just in case." Yours will get the same treatment. I am also looking (still) for the later heads so we can compare the two versions.

BTW ... here's a picture of the protoype for the produciton OHC-6 header we sell:

Even though we are building a pair of long I-6 cams, the tooling and parts will be available for a set of the shorter V-6 cams. Stay tuned.

What material are you using for those cams?

Chilled cast iron for the non-roller applications; 8620 for roller applications. For the DOHC-6 project we'll be using chilled iron lobes. The shafts are AISI 1018 and the journals will probably be AISI 1018 or 1045
