  • Crank question

I removed the crank from the engine I am going to put in my 95 Monte and I noticed that the crank is stamped 3.1. Do both engines use the same crank or do I have a problem. With the pistons in they reach TDC and the bearings fit well. Any info?

Hmm .. I heard the 3.4L DOHC crank is the same thing as even the 2.8L crank ..

    If not, free bump lol

yes the 3.1l crank and the 3.4L crank are identical, when my brother had his motor rebuilt they put in a 3.1 crank in it, the only difference that i am aware of is the 3.4L has a stronger crank in it, so it can take more power and whatnot.so if your crank say 3.1 on it then it must have been replaced from a 3.1l before. it will work fine but from my understanding dont run much more power than stock or it could fracture, but im not sure i would get some more input.
