  • What bellhousing pattern does the VVT's use?

Looking at a 3.6 VVT engine. What bellhousing pattern is it? I found a post in the tranny forum where several people said it's the standard GM 60 deg v6 pattern, but... has anyone actually seen one? Or tried to bolt a 60 deg bell to it?

Looking at the 3.6 pictures (page 5), this pic shows the pattern:

It looks like a multi-pattern block, but I'm just not seeing the 60 deg pattern there at all.

On the 60, both of the lower holes are just above the crank line and there are none here.

On the 60, the two top bolts will be up where the t-stat housing/water return is on the VVT.

The *only* ones I can see maybe kinda sorta (but not really) matching up is one the center bolts either on the left/driver's side above the starter, or the one on the right that takes an allignment bushing.

Anyone know the scoop? It almost looks closer to the Ecotec pattern than the 60 deg.

    thanks

Yeah definitely no standard GM 60* FWD pattern there though I see what may be bosses for the second to the highest bolts? I tried overlaying a head-on shot I took of my tranny (mirrored of course) and I couldn't get it to line up no matter how much I resized it, except for those two bosses, it actually centered properly using those, but nothing else lined up and the top of the tranny would hit the thermostat housing thing..

To me, and I could very well be wrong, it looks remarkably simular to my Quad 4's bellhousing...

Sure looks to me like you're right. Does the Ecotec use that bellhousing pattern too?
