very nice but it isn't a CAI. it is an AIR INTAKE. Here is an example of a CAI. i plan on replacing the "petterning" tubing with the better looking stuff eventually but it isn't a high priority for me right now.

i konw i know i know, its not a "cold" air intake but i do plan on usuing sheet metal and making a heat sheild. i remember seeing a website that sells 3 inch intake tubing in all different lengths and bends really cheap but i cant remember where it was because that was what i was going to do. BTW, what did you (dohcfiend) use to polish your valve cover and manifold?

found the place with all the tubing. hopt this might help with taking your cold ait intake to the next level. might even be able to make it an item in the store if its popular enough, shouldnt cost very much

IntakeHoses.com has the full range of all sizes of intake hoses, in both black rubber and silicone. Aluminum tubing including elbows, all types of hose clamps.

dohcfiend, i must say, that is the best looking LQ1 block i have ever seen in my intire life. how exactly did you get that shine on there man!? nice intake as well. sure it works wonders if its out of the engine bay.

i believe what you have created with this 3-inch cut tube intake is merely a Warm Air Intake. even if you had a heatshield..it wont do much. it might get rid of a few messely degrees but not much. i'm sure the tubing is better than the stock hose, but all in all, not much of a power gain. the filter is doing most of the power boosting. i talk like its doing a whole lot. its not. dont expect too much power. probably 5hp is done correctly. even with the heatshield..it will be cooler in the sense, but not nerely cool enough to see some more power. find a spot out of the engine bay to fit the filter away from any spots for water and whatnot, fabricate a bendy curvy pip, then think back to this post and be like "jesus..i put a nice shiny tube on this thing when the filter alone would have done fine. how stupid was i?"

I know this and im not a stupid ricer that thinks a "warm air intake" will give me 25hp. I got it for 5 bucks and would love to see someone do better for 5 bucks!! Right now im too broke to go out and get all the piping and other stuff i would need to do what i want but soon i will. so please no more comments on how it isnt a real "cold" air intake because i know. Thanks.

Hey, Isn't there an online place where you can buy all the piping and elbows and couplings and shit. Cause I'd like to peice an intake together.

If somebody knows let me in.

did you run that stright into the fender right under the washer tank because that is exactly what i was going to do but hadnt had the time or extra money to tear into it right away. did you have to cut a hole?? a pic with the tank removed would be very helpful if you can. what filter did you use?? thanks.

I installed the Honda civic intake today during school. It gained me 2 tenths in the 1/4 mile. Nice sound too. I'll have pics up tomarrow. Very clean and pretty motor BTW.

u mean a different intake manifold or just a CAI? don't know you or follow your threads but 2 tenths off of a CAI? i gotta call

p.s. 93gtp, it seems you are coming right along with those CAI's. they look better and better IMO. btw, is the filter enclosed in something or is it at the end of the intake?

and got a pic of where it exits? this latest one, is it plastic or painted steel tubing?

No not the manifold, just the intake pipe. I will post my fastest time slip before the intake and my fastest after the intake. And the fastest run before the intake was on a half tank of gas. The run with the intake was with a full tank.
