  • plz help throttle problems

well i took my car up the road today and it runs fine now.

but the throttle will open itself. i almost ran over some peeps with that. there is no cruise hooked up now, so it isn't that. maybe with the new intake arm there is too much vacuum and it is sucking the throttle open?

    i am open to suggestions.

Its not gonna suck it open. Check your linkages and the spring. If its not on there right, then it could suck it open but the pedal will feel so loose that you would have to notice as well.

k done. u think the throttle return spring is defective then?

it only does it when i already have the throttle open and it will pull it open more. i tried winding the spring up another loop but it is so tight now i am scarred it will snap my cable. i have another tb coming so i will switch springs when it gets here i guess and see it that helps until then i will run with a vac leak i guess.

i wouldnlt make it too tight, as ive had mine like that and it sucks. I don't see how the spring is defective if its got that much tension right now. It could be the idle air controller is opening up a lot, making you think the throttle is opening when its not.

i know the throttle is open b/c i feel the pedal drop from my foot. the spring was only super tight after i looped it around an additional time. when it is normal it isn't that tight.

Its not a stock TB though right. I dunno if the spring on it is strong enough so maybe you need to find a stiffer one. Just doesn't seem like it should be any problem though.

When the engine is shut down, you should be able to tell with your foot if the spring is as stout as your old one. If it is, then you have a stop for your spring, that doesn't stop very well. Watch the action as someone else uses the pedal. This has got to be the source of your problem.

yeah probably. that is what i am thinking too. have another n* intake coming monday so i will switch springs when it gets here. well i am thoroughly impressed with the car's vacuum that is for sure i thought the vacuum would be lower but maybe not. i did take some vacuum scavenging steps though. no cruise sucking vacuum, no ccp sucking vacuum that is about 10 feet of hose right there gone, brake booster hose is now only about 6 inches, the fpr hose is about 4 inches, have a small hose running to the heater and the modulator hose is about 5 inches shorter than be4.

the stocker feels alittle stiffer than the northstar one.

is there any way to get a stiffer spring for it?
