Ok, i decided to test out some equations found online, and some i learned in physics to see if i could get a rough estimate on the horse power of my car. I used DYKZ34 1/4mile times and dyno hp as a base to run through the equations and see how accurate they were. They come within 1-1.5% accuracy unless i did something wrong.
I have heard to estimate a loss of 20% flywheel horsepower over the drivetrain.
I used 3200lbs and wheel hp of 179 and came up with 15.23 in the 1/4 in the equations for dykz's car. His time on the timeslip was 15.38 so that gives it about a .5% accuracy.
I raced a 2000+ GP GT with some exhaust work and possibly other mods last summer and beat it, his bumper was at my door from 0-90 the entire race. I estimated he should run about a 15.5......is this reasonable or no? The came to about 179hp at the wheels.
Off that estimate i estimated my time to be a 15.3, in which case this gives me, with the wieght of my car puts 213hp at the wheels. Which is ALOT more than DYKZ's car.
Was I too generous on the times given to the GP and my car? I think i was because I dunno why my car would have that kind of power at the wheels with these mods:
FFP Pulley and dog bone
Exhaust 2.5" Cat back Magnaflow
Gasket matched intakes
K&N with holes in box
Bosch Platinum Plugs
Using my 1/8 mile times and driving with a blown head gasket i was able to calculate 177 wheel hp.
Anyone care to check my work and please prove me wrong?
