  • News on my red car, it might run...

Well my dad had some time to fuck with the red Z34 in my sig, and it should be able to run. It seems that the car as an oil/block heater for when it is off. He said it does not look like a factory-installed unit. Correct me if I am wrong, but IIRC these are like metal rods, about 1/2" in diameter and about 2-4" long. They are tapped into your pan and bolted to it. What we think happened is it somehow got bent, and is jamming the crankshaft. He turned the crank with a prybar on the teeth, and it'd turn in reverse, but as soon as he started to turn it forward, it'd jam. Next he is going to either pull the heater, or drop the pan. It depends on how the heater comes out.

THis is good and bad. Good in that I may be able to sell the red car as a good, running 5-speed Z, bad in the fact that this leaves me motorless for my Fiero swap. So now to look for a 91-93 3.4L DOHC with wiring harness, running or non running, auto or manual motor/harness.

Aaron, don't hold your breath on that one. From what I have seen in the past, you probably have a stacked rod bearing. This will make the piston try to come out of the bore and hit the head. To narrow it down, keep turning it backwards 180 degrees and see if it stops. Also, you can use a long screwdriver on each head to listen to see if you can hear anything hit when the motor stops.

apparently I don\'t learn to quickly.

I wish I was there so I could see.

Although it sounds reasonable, it really is weird. The motor shouldn't be bad. Everything is too perfect. The car is immaculate, the interior looks brand new, the engine compartment is almost as clean as my white car's, the motors oil looked liek it'd been changed yesterday, etc. Everything is out of place. I do not know how this motor went bad, but it doesn't seem right. We'll see what my dad finds out I guess.
