I plan to do a performance rebuild soon and I wanted to know if one could get a '95 motor to work on a '92 Z34. I've seen a gp with a 95 motor hooked up to a '93 harness. The reason I ask is I have a connection to a '95 motor for cheap.

DONT LISTEN TO DAVE HE IS RETARTED
Originally posted by dykz34Yes, it will work. The only change you'd have to make, I think, is to use the 92 intake plenum because of the MAP (92) vs. the MAF (95).1991 Grand Prix GTP LX9swap/Getrag 284 --- SOLD =(

The old style crank sensor is always there, at least on all the DIS equipped V6/60s up until the 3500 (they may have changed something there?!?)... the older style crank sensor is used to drive the DIS system at least... the ECM also uses it for the FI on MFI cars, but on SFI cars it uses a second crank position sensor (usually behind the crank pulley) and a cam position sensor..

i have a 1995 motor in my 1992 , i Didnt change anything only diffrence is now i have heads with a cam sensor..but since 92 computer doesnt have a cam sensor..wouldent even think twice bout it. Crank sensor are diffrent...but the plug is the same..so no worries there...my 92 motor felt faster though =( . Also the plate that bolts onto the front the engine is diffrent reuse all ur old accessieries cuz 95 alt is diffrent.1996 Dodge Ram 5.9/4x4

Just as Cliff said
91-93 have the 3X cranks sensor ONLY. it is located in the back of the block just above the oil pan.
94+ (includes 96-97) also have this same exact sensor (same location). But they also have an additional 24X behind the crankshaft damper.
the ONLY difference you would have with a 95 motor in a 92 car is you will not plug in the 24X sensor by the crank pulley and you will not plug in the cam sensor in the front cam carrier. If you swap vac distribution blocks on the plenum as john said, you wont have to do anything else.
