Oil fill on valve cover

Hey, gotta quick question directed to those who know the 3.4L more than I do(there's a few people out there that do )

anyways, on my Fiero motor, I am going to use 2 rear valve covers instead of one front one rear. I just like the look a bit more. I was just wondering if I have to add oil in the factory location(atop of the number 6 cylinder)? Can I instead add the oil form atop the #5? I would think that this would be fine, but I am not sure. Thanks!

It is just that under the front valve cover there are some slides and such that direct the oil to a certain part before it drains down. Mine obviously wouldn't have these. But I guess they aren't important, and GM just threw them on there to waste money. Cuz that is something GM would do...

mine drops oil above cylinder 4. on '91-95 it was above cylinder 6. the little slide thing doesnt make a difference as long as the oil makes it through the cam carrier, through the heads and down. i didnt really pay much attention when i had my cam cover off to polish, but i dont think i saw a dedicated spot for oil to go from the oil fill hole.

Just to show that I am an equal opportunity asshole...why do you really think it would matter. Hell, you could put the oil in through the dipstick hole...but it would probably take all day. Why let a little thing like putting oil in stop you from makin something pretty?

It wouldn't even be that bad. You fill the tranny through the dipstick hole. That would be a reasonable option.
