  • Oil fill on valve cover

Hey, gotta quick question directed to those who know the 3.4L more than I do(there's a few people out there that do )

anyways, on my Fiero motor, I am going to use 2 rear valve covers instead of one front one rear. I just like the look a bit more. I was just wondering if I have to add oil in the factory location(atop of the number 6 cylinder)? Can I instead add the oil form atop the #5? I would think that this would be fine, but I am not sure. Thanks!

Your kidding, right? I refuse to beleive you are that much of an idiot; after all, you taught yourself how to weld. What would it matter where you added it as long as it made it into the oil pan? I sometimes think you post things just to see if you can get under someone's skin.

      Sorry.

It is just that under the front valve cover there are some slides and such that direct the oil to a certain part before it drains down. Mine obviously wouldn't have these. But I guess they aren't important, and GM just threw them on there to waste money. Cuz that is something GM would do...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! add it to the gas tank. Those "slides" have a purpose, but nothing you would understand. Id tell you, but then you would have to take my word as the gospel.

They are there to help "idiot proof" the motor.

You think that teaching yourself how to weld makes you smart? I'm sorry but, did you see his welds? It doesn't say much for your theory. Muhahahahahahahha!!!

mine drops oil above cylinder 4. on '91-95 it was above cylinder 6. the little slide thing doesnt make a difference as long as the oil makes it through the cam carrier, through the heads and down. i didnt really pay much attention when i had my cam cover off to polish, but i dont think i saw a dedicated spot for oil to go from the oil fill hole.

I know I was just fuckin' around. Actually I've seen Journeymen with shittier welds than Aaron's.

Just to show that I am an equal opportunity asshole...why do you really think it would matter. Hell, you could put the oil in through the dipstick hole...but it would probably take all day. Why let a little thing like putting oil in stop you from makin something pretty?

Well as pretty as I want it, I don't want to have 4 hour oil changes.

It wouldn't even be that bad. You fill the tranny through the dipstick hole. That would be a reasonable option.
