  • who has experience in writing off their w-bodies?

hey, the name of the post may be a little misleading I'M NOT TRYING TO WRITE MINE OFF, but I hit a deer the other night and my car is messed right up. I'm curious how much damage these cars can have before insurance will total them off.

so far the damage that I have found is:
    -creased hood,
    -dented pass. side quarter panel.
    -fender flare cracked in half
-bumber pushed almost back into tire
    -license plate holder ripped off
    -hood louver cracked
    -all pass. side lights destroyed
    -front grills cracked
    -paint on bumper screwed royally

sorry I don't have any pictures, and that's all the damage I can report at the moment, I wasn't keen on playing in the dried on deer blood to search for damage.

any one have a guess on the repair cost?

i thought they determined if it was totaled by the amount of damage costing more than the blue book value of the car.
that's if your insurance covers that, some companies only cover liability when a car is over a certain amount of years old.

Laws vary state by state here in the states, I don't know about up in canada. You almost have to call your ins. guy or the body shop and ask them, and then when you find out you have to get an estimate to see what would happen. No offense, vsop, but you guys out in cali have that no fault deal and having your laws is like living on another planet.

i got rearended and they had to repaint the bumper and and replace part of the bumper and fix the exhaust... that equated to about 1200 dollars through them... i paid 2300 for the car (and my teacher who knows that offered 3000 for it:P).... but your looking at probably 4-5000 in damages easy through an insurance company, and then its iffy. Let me know, i kinda want to know for mine too.

just heard from my insureance company, there is 45-5000 in visible damage but I think they are fixing it. I think I am selling the car anyway though, so if anyone wants it, come find me

well its up to you if you want the car writen off of not, you have the option to say you want it fixed, my brothers cars was rearended by a jetta and it went underneath his car and bent the frame and the whole ass end of the car was ruined. the damage was a little under $10,000 and they wanted to wrie it off but my brother told them to fix it and they did.
