  • Help with Alarm/autostarter installation

Hi, I have a 1992 Lumina Z34. the old alarm system (i believe it was a viper alarm) was cut out and I have a new one of a different brand. unfortunately I do not know which wires are what under the dash and was wondering if anyone has a schematic or even if they could tell me color for color which wires are what.
    any help would be appreciated

I don't know about the wires....
but if you want to put in an autostarter you will have problems with the key.
Well at least on my 95 Z the key has a little chip or transister, autostart will need that chip in the ignition, or I hear you can get a seperate "chip" for that.

He may not have chip issues with his 92. My key doesn't have a chip at all. If your key does have a chip, just measure the resistance of the chip with a digital ohm meter. RadioShack will have whatever value resistor you need. Cut the 26ga orange wires in the white plastic sheath, and solder in the resistor. Voila! no chip issues. there is also a way to have your remote start bypass the chip/key issue, and still need a chip if you use your actual key to start your car (that's how I did my '94 seville).

The wiring schematics can be found at: http://www.bulldogsecurity.com/
