Also, since you have it out, you should get an UD pulley from FFP... *bling bling* (oh yeah, and 8hp :P )

The other day I almost bought an 88 Fiero GT Fastback 5 speed. That was probably the coolest car I've ever driven. However I ended up getting a flat on my way home, two screw in the side of the tread, too close to patch so I had to buy a new tire... $100 plus mounting, so I couldn't afford the car anymore =(

Fieros are awesome, I just hate the interiors. Have to do the interior swap from v8archie

              Thanks guys.

Actually the AC delete was easy. I made a templete out of cardboard, traced it on metal, cut, shaped it and then drilled the holes. total cost including the pully was about $20.00 The biggest challenge is getting good thick enough steel and cutting it. I had it made up at work, but i don't work there anymore, so i can't get another one.

As for the FIREO, i agree i think its the best canidate for this engine. 88 is the best year, because of the redesigned suspention and brakes, but since its the only year, finding used parts is a pain.

              Thanks again

i haven't driven an 88 fiero but i have driven 2 86's one a notchback and 1 a fastback. both have terrible understeer or push in them. i have heard the 88's are better about that.

where did u get that pulley from and how did u make that work?

do u still have the cardboard u used?

are u ever in the richmond area? i'd like to see this beast one day.

tru my a/c is just freewheeling but that setup looks alot lighter than my a/c compressor.

                    Bobby,
Don't get up to Richmond much, but I am a member of the local Fiero club (FOCOSEVA) Fiero Owners Club Of SE Virgina.... and we do local shows, sometimes getting up close to Richmond. I guess if there was a show up there, we would go to it too.

I will be out of the country for the next 6 months, so progress will stop on this for now. I have the harness done, and on and other than installing and troubleshooting it will soon be done. (I hope). Im sure sooner or later we will be in the same place at the same time.

YES, i do have the templete. I saw it in the garage the other day. Ill have to look for it. The pully is from Pepboys. I just went in and told them i needed a pully that was 6 (i think) ribbed and about "this" big. They pulled 3-4 off the shelf, and i bought that one. Nothing special.

As for A/C delete, i did it because (1) this will not be a daily driver, so it will only see good weather. (2) with t-tops, if the wx is good then the tops are off. and (3) I didn't want to mess with the additional electrical. I have not done anything that can't be fixed if i need A/C that bad. Even kept the wires in the harness. I too see it as a great place for a vorteck blower of some other "power adder", but for now I just want to get it on the road. This "quick swap" has taken over a year (off and on).

                    Peace.

                    Rob

it might be a great place for the a vortec or something but i doubt it would hold it. the brackets for those things are HUGE, i am sure they are that big for a reason.

u think u could make me a copy and send it to me? also, how much bigger is it than the idle/drive tensioner pulley? or could u measure it be4 u jet?

                      thanx.

will do, i was not worried about the size, cause im using the stock belt. I just positioned it, so that the slack was taken off, and the water pump was getting enough belt.
