  • HELP need a little wiring data

    if any1 has a hayes or chilton's book for a 91-95(i have a 94btw) 3.4 DOHC, i need a little wiring data from ya.

i goofed in the middle of my 96 swap using my 94 egr valve. during the lengthening process of the egr connector i cut the wires off realizing after i did it there are 2 brown wires!!!!!!!

    Which goes where??????????

i have a meter but not a diagram. the pins are D&B(on the 94 connector) if i knew what to look for i could figure out what was what.

    You've got a 50/50 chance.... :P

But seriously, I don't know what to do.

Dis what ya want? Looks like if they are both brown, it don't matter on the position. Note: They are both connected. Your chances of success just went to 100%!

it helps alot but i might need more i am not 100% yet. like i notice that the lt blue wire goes to sol A and it is on pin A and same for the red wire on pin C based on that logic pin B must go to sol B.

i am guessing that pin B in a 12V input and the furthest brown on the right is the ground but these are assumptions.

i will take voltage readings tomorrow and turn the ign on and off the input one should fluctuate between input and 0v and the ground will read 0v all the time.

also for figuring out the pin arrangement, what i was thinking is hooking 1 of the brown wires up and putting a test light on one of the other pins and turn the ign on and off. if it is a ground the light should stay on and if it isn't it should fluctuate.

this is all based on the assumption that the ecm puts power to them on ignition on. if these test are unsuccessful i will have to do them again and start the car.

Don't know if the E Mail was readable. It was pretty big. Solenoid A wire goes to Evaporative Cannister Purge solenoid. Solenoid B wire goes straight to the control module..

gotcha 1 goes to the pcm and the other is a ground for everything. probably ends up on one of those metal ground rings somewhere. thanx a bunch. based on that the one that goes to the pcm is pin B and the ground is pin D.

No! Don't ground either one. After the purge solenoid the wire changes from brown to dark green with white stripe and returns to the PCM. Grounds are black.

that brown one has to be a ground and it doesn't change from dkgreen/white that is the other wire on the evap purge solenoid. the purge solenoid has a 2 pin connector hooked to it. the dkgreen/white is the input from te ecm and the brown is the ground. solenoids can't work without grounds usually they are NO/NC with 0v and go to vice versa when input is applied(usually 12v).

and i am not physically grounding pinD whichever of the 2 brown wires is in-line with the evap and other solenoid goes to pinD and the other one that goes straight to the ecm is pinB.

The brown wire is not a ground. Trust me here. Before it reaches the purge solenoid, it intersects with the power steering pressure switch and the under hood electrical center(Eng Emis Fuse, A Hot in Run). This is from solenoid "A" This wire is HOT! Everything from these controls grounds from the PCM. It's a loop. PCM ground is black/white.

i will give it a good look over in a few but sol "A" isn't the brown wire, it is the ltblue wire.

I stand corrected! You are right. The brown wire from the purge is the feed wire. The brown from solenoid B is the return to the PCM. Or vice-versa. Just don't ground either one. Teach and learn.. (I need better glasses)

i stand corrected as well. after looking at the bigger diagram u sent me it is a hot not a ground. thanx for your help. and if u need anything lmk.

well it works out much better now. when i use the meter the wire that is hot is pinD and the one that is not is pinB.

bad pun warning........ it is either hot or not.
