have to take a pause on my little project battery is too dead to turn the engine so those problems will be addressed later.

next is the throttle cables, the 96 bracket is different in 3 ways 1st of all the bracket is too far away, 2nd the way the cables slide in is different and 3rd the cruise cable is different.

looks like i will have to take both the 96 bracket and my 94 bracket to the machine shop and have a hybrid patterened on the other 2. as far as cruise goes i am not sure on that yet.

other than that i have an idle issue and what appears to be an exhaust leak.

For the throttle bracket, I cut a section out of the center of the 97 one so the throttle cable would fit and allow the TB plate to close.

For the mounting of the lines, you need to cut the two lines apart directly inbetween them... they will then slide into the two slots on the new bracket.

For the cruise line, you need to chop the end off and put a ring terminal on then find a small clip to hold the ring terminal onto the throttle plate.

      Good luck.

sweet. the hell with the machine shop i am about 75% done with mine.

i cut 2 pieces off of the 96 bracket and the center section off of the 94(i got bored waiting for the batt to charge)

but i didn't know what to do about the cruise. thanx.

got the bracket done a few days ago, other than troubleshooting this idle, physically everything is almost done. this 96 intake is a big motherf**ker compared to it's predecessors, i am going to have to try and redesign my CAI to fit if it can.

other than that i have to get the cruise straight, going from what dyk says, it shouldn't be too bad.

What intake tube are you referring to?

if u were using a stock airbox setup u would have to use the 96 intake tube to make it fit cause the older version wouldn't work, and u would probably have to make your own if u were using a 91-93 due to the lack of a MAF sensor. i finished my CAI yesterday so i didn't need the little rubber tube but i just assume one would need it.

Ahh, okay. I just fabbed up a short intake arm for a cone filter when I did mine. I didn't want to move the battery to the trunk so that was my only option.

Bobby - been following this thread. I too have had/have some of the same issues putting the 96 into my 88 Fiero. Some of my easy things are your difficult, and vis versa.

Keep it going, im taking some good notes.

my battery is in the stock location, my CAI take air from that large retangular spot in the fascia that feeds the rad. i cut a 3.5 in. chunk out of the airdam so the cai hose doesn't hang down and a 3.5 in hole is neglegable when it comes to feeding the rad.

but running the hose down is alot easier for me cause i have no a/c cannister and i use that bracket for it to hold the CAI hose.

i think it can be done even if my a/c wasn't bypassed though.

thanx for the feedback qwikgta when i get everything 100% i will summarize this into a proper wrtie-up. and i will post it in the right section too.

Good idea with the intake. I've been pondering different ways to get a true cold air intake on the car without moving the battery...

np if u need pics just lmk. u might have to wrestle around the a/c cannister but i think it can be done.

also i have ran into 2 pitfalls. 1 i have a fluid leak from my tranny dipstick. that thing is a mother to get to, had to drop the downpipe to get to it to apply a large chunk of rtv black. gotta wait 24 hours for it to fully cure.

next is a little rad mismatch, my 94 rad is no good so i tried to save a few bucks and get one from a junkyard, i got one off of a 91.

all was good until i finalized the install. 1st i realized that the rad is smaller than my rad(but i got the shroud so that was np) and then i realized my fans won't fit it. so either i have to go back to the yard and either get the fans or get another 94 rad. but i did take the opportunity to install the external tranny cooler

i have 1 cooling fan. it is the driver's fan and i plan on getting the passenger's fan tomorrow. after which i will install it and put the hood on and drive it to the shop to get the cv boot clamps installed when i get it back i have to install a fenderwell cover and finally i will get to road test it.

unfortunately there are a few parties on the venue for this weekend so look for an update monday or tues after which i will go back and tackle the cruise sing dyk's advice which will be the final update provided the road test goes alright.

also dyk i will get those pics to u tomorrow. i had a friend show up and me and her have been getting re-acquainted

                                got the cooling fans installed.

well, bad news. i have a fuel leak(med), a tranny fluid leak(large) and an oil leak(small). I discovered these when i was bleeding my rad and had to stop.

the fuel is leaking where i have my inline fp guage. i took it out, put some thread sealent on it and re-installed it.

my tranny leak is either coming from the pan which i ran a bead of rtv black or the leak maybe from the tq converter. how do u fix that?

lastly the oil leak seems to be coming from the front and rear seals on my oil pan gasket. but i need to investigate further to pinpoint these leaks.

i have to wait 24 hours for everything to cure properly and try again tomorrow. if i feel up to it.
