  • OBD2 w/ 12 pin ALDL?

I have a '95 Grand Prix w/ 3.4 DOHC, all references i can find to this car state if it is a '95 and has the 3.4 it should be obd2, but it has the 12 pin ALDL not the 16 pin. Do i have a freak car or am i missing something?

If you don't have an OBD-2 connector, you don't have OBD-2. Part of the requirement of OBD-2 is for a standardized connector.

GM used a screwy system for a model year or two prior to the '96 rollout of mandatory OBD-2, where OBD-1 provided partial OBD-2-style codes and such; around here I've heard it called OBD-1.5.

In the end, it's not OBD-2. Doesn't matter. A REAL scan tool will talk to it just fine.
