  • Newbe Says Hello

    Hello Guys

Just found the site and am quite impressed with all the information here.

I don't have a DOHC, but I do like them and may be getting one.

    Great Site

From one Newbie to another, welcome, John. Good to see you here, too.

Someone should ask you what BMFH stands for ... and then show them.

        BMFH

        Hello Guy's

BMFH is not what you might think, it is a Pontiac OHC 6 (circa 1966-1969),
one of the guy's in another forum gave it the nickname below, it stands for "BOAT MOTOR FROM HELL" I shortened it for my handle.

It started life as a 230 cu.in. / 3.8L in a Hydroplane by Bud Meyer, late 60's early 70's and ran against a total V8 field, won the chapionship the first year in the water running on alky.

I bought it form his machinest buddy, he re-worked it into a 301cu. in., 14.5:1 C.R., Algon and Hilborn Injected, 500 H.P. monster for 200 MPH assult on the salt. Their best speed was 169 MPH in a 32 Roadster. If you want I can give a link at a later date, not quite up to speed on that at this time, the address is below, I don't know how to link it yet.

Any How, Thanks for the Welcome

        John

        P.S.

I guess I did figure it out after all, ENJOY, Thanks Q

Welcome! You don't have to own a DOHC to be here. But if you get one, this is the place to be! Just enjoy the levity, the information, and feel free to ask anything. Except anything about my preference for Midgets. I keep that private! I let things slip sometimes!
If you are driving a Chevy, everything else, is just a blur. 3.4 Carbon Footprint.

Welcome Are you considering this engine for a different application than the usual W body/Fiero? The pushrods on this site get all the glory in other cars/trucks/boats but since the LQ1 is so large it doesnt play nice with a lot of engine bays. When it does, a V8 is usually opted instead Hehe, im a fan of the motor though and know very little about non 60V6 motors cause I spend all my time with this family of motor.

btw, I thought at first your nick meant (big mother fuckin hammer) which is the tool of choice when something doesnt wanna fit

I too thought the nick meant big mother fuckin hammer, which would have been pretty cool with me, lol. Oh, BTW, welcome aboard, BMFH, and Q (from the James Bond movies? J/K, lol.)

More Bond than Star Trek ... I'm a gadget guy, not an evil mastermind plotting the demise of all things unworth of diety level intelligence.

What I am actually working on is a DOHC head for an I-6 with vairable cam timing. The basis for the project is a pair of 3.4L DOHC heads mated end to end.

So far I've been very impressed with the informaiton I've read here.
