  • Heater Core

Well.. i guess its time to swap out the heater core.... Just to give u guys a heads up.... mine isnt leaking in the car yet.... it leaks outside the car under the passenger side foot rest area. After a few days it will start fogging up yer front window near where the defrost comes out....forces you to have to run the AC all the time to extract the humidity caused from the leaking core.... Now on day five driving it around, if you turn off the AC and have it on the OFF position, it will pour out steam like its trying to give you a steam bath...... Can't tell if its from me hotboxing it... or if its the core ???

Yay! Heater cores leaking all over! My Sunbird is in pieces at the moment for the same problem. Started blowing steam out the vents, and dripping antifreeze out the drip drain thru the firewall.

i had to replace mine not too long ago and if you have the 3.4 the easiest way i found to do it is to take the upper intake off and get to it that way. you might want to be careful taking it off or you will tear the gasket and have to replace the gasket too. on the 3.1 i don't know how easy it will be though.

worst part is getting the hoses off the outside, the inside work is easy just a buncha screws and a vent and cover.

Yeah my heater core took a shit on me a few months ago... I just ran a hose bypassing the heater core, everything is dandy except no heater (my car doesn't have the heater box anyways). And I hear you about those stupid hoses on the outside, mine are totally baked on.

Try using a steak knife or some other serrated blade to hack them off.
