  • Whats a rebuildable 91-95 motor worth?

I am looking at a motor that is supposed to be a 95.
The outside looks ok, but I took off the intake manifold
to take a look at the valves (Holy hell those ports are monsters!)

I looked through them while turning the motor w/ a wrench
(Which was very hard compared to my 2.8 pushrod, is it normal
for a DOHC motor to be so hard to turn?)

What I could see of the cylinder walls looked pitted and scratched,
so I am assuming it needs to be bored, which I guess explains
how hard it was to turn over w/ a wrench.

What is a motor in this condition worth? What would you pay for it?

Not very much. I would have to say about $100-200 depending on what is attached to it. I would not give much more then that if they don't like it. Yes, it is normal for a DOHC to be hard to turn, there are 24 valve springs you are fighting against, vs 12.
