  • FFP Chip

Will my car pass smog with the FFP chip still in it? I'm getting ready to convert my car back to smog-legal (getting it smogged Thursday, need to mail registration by Friday ) and I wanna know if I have to change the chip out.

    Thanks

      Is your EGR disabled?

Mine actually passed w/ better numbers than it did w/ the factory chip.

Nah EGR is enabled on the FFP Chip... I just put the stock chip back in (runs like garbage ) and drove about 7 miles to the shop... I guess they just started having "Check Only" stations recently... meaning the vast fucking majority of stations are now "Check Only." No cert. So I have to find a place that is "Test only." I found one and the wait was like days...

But through all this changing back to smog legal crap, I've come to the conclusion that my cone intake and the chip combined have some damn good gains. I lost a race with a 5.9 Dakota R/T whom I raced a few weeks ago (with all my fancy mods ) and beat no sweat... today I was at his back bumper at 60mph (we only race up to 60, that's the speed limit )

I did not pass emissions but I do not think his chip has ANYTHING to do with it.

if it means anything, my 3.1 with the EGR turned off, still passed emissions

Well I passed yesterday with flying colours. I was surprised it was passing almost no oil at all. And it was only slightly above average for unburned fuel. Anyways, my car is now un-stock again. Thanks for the input though, I'm sure it'll be useful for someone else.

The reason I failed was becuz my plug wire was cut, I do not know how, but it made my #5 cylinder not fire below 4,000. I didn't check emissions after I got the new wire, but I bet it'd pass.

Lake county Indiana (Hammond) has emissions testing. What a PITA! I failed six times before I passed.

my car failed horribly , but i found out later that was because my cat completly fell apart and blew all the insides out the back. so basically when i took my cat off i could look right through it. i was pissed, very, very pissed.
