diode supressor???? need info!!!

i noticed on my 95 gp gtp there is a diode supressor, with 3 wires, one goes from the starter (purple wire) to the diode supressor, then a black, that also goes to the starter with the purple wire, then a third black a ground wire to ground on the body, is this factory? i never seen this. can anyone help

Not sure if it's factory, but I would imagine it's to prevent EMF kick back.
