My Ranger is a 94 with the 2.3l dual plug 4 cylinder, lol! I have the 5 speed Mazda transmission in it with a Centerforce clutch and I have a class IV hitch on it. It's basically stock. It is no speed demon, but it gets the job done. When I am pulling something that weighs more then my truck with it, I don't even bother to check my MPG. The last time I checked my MPG when I hauled something with it was when it had the 3.45's, and I got 22MPG pulling a Neon. My advantage is our area is mostly flat. Give me some hills and I would be looking for a bigger truck, but for around here it does just fine.

This one ought to make you laugh (note: I would put money down I didn't get 22mpg that day...)

my father in law has the same truck, just ugly-ass green. if you're on flat ground and in 5th gear, it doesn't matter how long you keep the pedal to the floor, you can't accelerate.

He might want to do a tune up and change his timing belt. Mine had no power when I first got it. Changed those items and it still doesn't have the power of my 92, but it will actually get up and go now. I can accelerate from 40 in 5th even, but then again, the gears that are in there now helped it out a lot.
