i work at the buick dealer. and i get to drive the rendevous around and about. the ultra rendevous comes with the 245 hp version of the 3.6. i didn't get to jump on it off the line but i nailed it from 30-35 a couple of times. of course seeing as it is a buick it will not downshift hard, it also weighs more than a stock w-body i think, cause they are all wheel drive. this thing would walk on a stock auto z all day long. it just kept putting me in the seat harder as the revs climbed. they have the 4t65e trans in them. well thats all i was just wondering if anyone else has drove them

Last fall I drove a CTS with the 3.6 VVT and the 5-speed auto. Plenty 'o power.....noticeably faster (and better handling) than the 330i on hand for comparison.Matt

Yes you can do the swap. Nobody has done it though so nobody knows how easy it will be. I say its possible because anything is possible. If a V8 will fit in there then a 3.6DOHC will fit in there. It may not be a direct drop in though.
Love that motor. Especially love the Timing CHAIN part!1995 Pontiac GTP
Over $12K invested, and still its slow. Maybe thats because thats most all repairs. Don\'t knock the engine though, because thats the only part that has seemed to last.

255 hp in CTS form, and it gets a 6-speed manual this model year (2005). Now that should be plenty quick.

Oh and it's forged all over the place, so it should be pretty stout right out of the box for boost. Forged crank, sinterforged rods, forged aluminum pistons.
