  • Interference LQ1 Engine

IIRC according to manuals I've read the 91-95 engines are not interference ( valve/piston) engines but the 96-97 engines are. Can anyone confirm this and provide proof?

    Thanks

That is correct. But in some cases with the 91-95 when the timing belt snaps at higher rpm will cause valve damage.

So this is a good question. I've read the 96-97 are and I've also read that they are not. I took my timing belt off and turned all four cams each and every direction I possibly could, I didn't hear or feel anything hitting. So I'm not so sure anymore, I have a 96 z34, oh and Dave it's good to see you over here, I'm Z34_B over at MyMonte

Hey man. Yeah don't know but that's the what I have had always herd. If you had it at TDC and turn the cam it should hit.
