  • *Month of May* Projected top-end rebuild rolling up fast

I need a good replacement spring and lifters soon...

    Preferable before April 28..

What is going on with those springs and lifters that was discussed a little while ago.

I need to get a set of the lifters and test them, which I hope to do in a week or 2. Springs...shim the 91 springs if you need a stronger spring. Thats the only option so far that I am aware of.

Why do you need a stronger spring than stock? Are you plannning on going past 7200rpm? If so good luck, becuz you will probably need new cams in order to make power past 7200.

While the top end is apart, I would consider it for the insurance. Also I imagine the springs loose some of their strength after being compressed and uncompressed an assload of times in there long life.

Makes sense, but I would use stock replacements. I know for sure the springs go to 7150 with no float, and that is with 127k hard miles. Now an auto, stock tranny, won't go past 6500 so getting stiffer springs is not only pointless, but can take away power.

Yes they are weak and can only get worse, according to what I was told last summer's bottom-end overhaul, in which I didn't have time last summer or the equipment.

I got ya beat. 152k on stock springs, no shims and every once in a while going to 7150 with no problems This is the 91 of course.

Since when do autos not go past 6500? Mine shifts at 6800...

The few I've ridden in were stock and shifted right at 6500. This is according to the factory tach.

acording to that factory tach mine shifted at 7500, which on the scantool was 7100. i checked the tach on the scantool and it started to read high right around 6k-6.5k

Come on set me up with some lifters, springs, and retainers....

Ahh mine shifts good, like when it is shifted...I never hold my engine at or higher than 6000 set up to rev limit at 6000 and start to retard at 5750 or abouts.< safty reasons I don't want a blown rod or bearing, worse yet a scoured cylinder wall or damaged piston(s) in that process
