Radiator fan trouble shooting

92 z34 Lumina with no fans running. I need a trouble shoot to locate the problem or problems. Freshly cleaned radiator, double checked all connectors after radiator reinstalled. Primary fan does wiggle on fan motor. Also should the primary fan only run when hot? At what temperatures do fans operate?

Have you checked the fuses and relays yet?

Fuses are fine. Not familiar with checking the relays. Not sure which connection goes to fan/power, switch on/off.

You need to check your relays out and test your CTS too. GL.

Does the water temperature gage use the coolant temperture sensor that also runs the fans. If so temp gage works fine I can rule that out. Is there a simple way to check the relays or should I just buy a new one to be sure I have a good one?

No, the temp gauge uses a sending unit. Not positive of location on the 3.4 but it should be around the TB and have a single wire.

As for the relays, yea. You can get a schematic (so you know which relay is which and which prongs are what on the relay) and ground it out. If it kicks the fan on when grounded it's fine. Then you need to look into (if your relay and CTS are fine) a possible bare wire, bad ground or possibly even a early warning of ECM troubles. GL.

All things being stock you wont see the primary fan come on till about 220 and the secondary about....230??? If you have the A/C running then you'll have thr fan run based on the pressure of the system versus the tables in the computer.
