One thing to keep in mind. I have heard of people that moved their coils and extended the wire for the CPS had problems later. Either their CPS went, or their ICM went. I can't remember 100% for sure which it was, but I would lean more towards the ICM. I also heard that some people figured it had something to do with not twisting the new wires together to help resist picking up noise and interference.

Yah, you gotta solder the wires and twist them inside the wire loom just like GM did or it can cause weird problems..

Also, i was incorrect.. after consulting a GM Tech he informed me that the plate does not have to be grounded. Sorry for the mis-information.

As many parts engines are sitting around peoples places, why not just solder 2 harnesses together to make one, lol. That way you have the same exact type of wire, the right twist and the whole nine yards.

Do not extend your wires. Yes there is a ground wire for the ICM. In the stock location it is bolted with the rest of the grounds to the one bolt on tranny IIRC. The aluminum plate also helps as a ground, but you still need that ground wire. When I relocated mine I tore my wire harness apart and traced the wires back to the ECM and then wire loomed them all up and relocated that way. So I did no cutting.

The 96 ICM connections is located on the fuel injector harness. I guess I can pop the fuel rail off and bring the wires back to the connections that attach to the ECM. I do have to cut the wires that go to the crank sensor-ICM, because there is no way it will reach. I guess I have more work to do now.

he's right you do not need to cut anything, just untangle your wiring from the main harness and it will extend to most anywhere in the bay within reason.

With that in mind, let us know when you have it done .
